Title: Confidant Days
Rating: G
Characters: Version of me, I think.
Disclaimer: No superheroes used in the making of this
Author's Note: I'm de-lurking after an extended lurk-a-thon on LJ, so after ages of watching this comm I finally joined and added my two cents here. Feedback would be nice?

The fridge is full.

The fridge is full and somehow that fills her with an inordinate happiness, something indescribable to anyone who hadn’t felt the all-consuming fear to poverty and hunger, who hadn’t heard the anxious whispers in the night, who hadn’t ever felt guilty for being hungry. She pulls out grapes from the fruit drawer and stands at the window, looking out onto the bright summer day.

The fridge is full and there’s superheroes crisscrossing the sky with contrails and there’s inexplicable things happening everyday, just waiting to be found and described. And that knowledge fountains up inside her, feeling like a bubble bursting against her skin, spreading innocent joy and wonder and fascination and the most glorious, confidant certainty that life will be absolutely amazing in every way.

After all, there’s superheroes in the sky.

Disclaimer: I don't own Superman.
Warnings: TRIGGERY for mentions of child abuse and rape.
Author's Note: Written for this comm, not a very happy happy fic.

What I learned in 3rd grade:
A story by Eve Rosen

I’m 9 now and I’m gron-up enough that my therapist Cheryl says that I ought to writ things down like a gron-up because writing things down makes them better so I'm writing about what happened in 3rd grade. When I was little Mom met a man and he was really nice to us and babysat us and let us play video games and sat with us outside and watched Superman going back to Metropopilis where Superman lived. And he was nice but he was fat and greasy and he didn’t wash his hair much but that was fine because he was nice. But some times he wasn’t nice and once he got in the bathtub with me and made me touch his boything and I didn’t want to but he said it was okay so I did and it moved and it was weird. And one time when Mom was in the hospitel getting better he made me sleep in my sleeping bag and he sleep in my bed and I woke up because the floor was hard and he and my sister Grace were gone but I went back to sleep. And now I know that he was making us do bad things and he did very bad things to my sister but its ok because he is going to jail now and Grace writ a letter to the judge about what he did to her. I’m still sad because he seemed nice but I learned that pepole aren’t always what they seemed like. And I also learned that even if your scared and pepole are making you do bad things that superheros don’t always come and save you and you have to save yourself because superheros are busy and don’t have the time to come save you even if their Superman.

Sorry if all my editing and fussing is messing with people's inboxes!

"What I learned in 3rd grade" really broke my heart, I have to tell you, in all the saddest of ways. The last line made me cry. Which is a good thing, considering.

Really? I.
I mean.
I'm kind of ecstatic to hear that it broke your heart. I mean, in a yay-they-liked-it sort of way.

Yay. <3
